HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
WISHING YOU HEALTH, HAPPINESS, PROSPERITY AND ABUNDANCE IN THE YEAR OF THE RABBIT!
It's been a month again since my last update! Sorry I've been busy during the xmas & new year holidays, and then I became sick afterwards, then followed by my son, then me again and my maids, and now my son again. The cycle is endless, and it seems that the virus is really strong these days! Have you all taken the flu shots yet? I still haven't got mine, so I guess it's time for all of us to take the shot!
Why "Pandora's Box"? Well, I've always been very fascinated by the stories of the Greek gods since I was in Primary school, and one of the stories is about Pandora's Box. In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman created by the gods. The name itself means "all-gifted" or "all-endowed", as each god helped create her by giving her unique gifts. The "box" was actually a large jar given to Pandora which contained all the evils of the world and Pandora was told not to open it. However, Pandora didn't listen and opened the jar out of curiosity. When she opened the jar, the entire contents of the jar were released, except for one, which is HOPE. Today, opening Pandora's box means to create evil that cannot be undone. (Doesn't it sound like evil related to crazy shopping? Hahahahaha!)
I first encountered the Givenchy Pandora at our local shopping place named Lane Crawford. I saw a very mysterious box-like bag sitting on the shelf, and when the SA told me the name of the bag was "Pandora", I was even more intrigued about the form of the bag, how it can be carried and also amazed by the special wrinkled-effect brushed leather which made the bag so vintage-looking. I remember seeing a color beige (small size) and a color olive green (larger size). Literally, they really look like a box made of leather.
I finally took the bag from the shelf, and started to take out all the papers inside the bag to see how it looks. Amazingly, they look so cool and "avant guarde" when you carry them! It's not like any other bags and not many people carry this style which made it extra special!! The box-like bag became so body-hugging when I carried it messenger cross-body, and also put on my shoulder with the single handle. Totally different from what you see when it's stuffed with papers like a box! Needless to say, I was instantly sold!!! And guess what? Eventually, I got 2 different colors in 2 sizes.....hehehehe!
This is the larger size Pandora (they call it medium size) in olive/military green wrinkled leather with gold hw.....
And this is the small size Pandora in purple (with blue undertone) wrinkled leather with gold hw.....
Bought this purple from Luisaviaroma a few months after I bought the olive green one from Lane Crowford...hehe!
Comes with a separate longer strap for carrying it messenger style, and also the original single short handle to carry it as a shoulder bag...
My Pandora twin!
You can see the size difference between the small and medium here...
And...of course.....some of my ODJs which I've worn with the Givenchy Pandora's.....together with some new shoes I got a couple of months ago.......:D Hope you like them!

Loving the special design of this pair of booties.....it's quirky but it's totally for moi! :D
My favourite part is the wooden effect of the wedge itself....see the patterns!! (BTW, I got these on sale too at Nordstrom! :D)
My new Chanel "Maharajah" earrings from Cruise 2011 collection..
I'm in love with any clothes with details on the shoulders.....:D This looks a bit like "big bird" from Sesame Street.....LOL! But I love it!
The purple color in this outdoor picture looks a bit exposed due to the strong sunlight. The purple is more intense in real life...
Speaking of Givenchy, I also have another bag style named "Tinhan" V-shaped tote. I bought 2 of them in total - one for my mom and one for myself.
Here's mine which is in "Petrole" colour with silver hardware (wrinkled leather)..so happy that I got it on sale at Barney's! :D
Side in silver hardware
This is a really special color because it looks kind of bluish-green....like teal but not entirely teal color...sometimes it has some hints of gray too. A chameleon!
Back of the bag..
This is the Gray Tinhan tote which I bought in Paris in June 2010 for my mom. The leather is vintage gray and not wrinkled.
Side in gold hardware

I haven't got time to take pix yet with my ODJs carrying the Givenchy Petrole color Tinhan tote....so let's leave that for my next posts....
Finally, Mason wants to say "hi" to you all! :D
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
GONG XI FA CAI!!
P.S. For those of you who have asked me about my 2 Hermes birkin special orders, I have actually received them already a couple of weeks ago directly from Paris. However, I'm not going to reveal them yet because I'm still waiting for a big package from US Hermes store. :D I want to do the reveal of my Birkins together with my US package. Hehe! Meanwhile, let's keep the suspense going.....:P
Cheers,
Mia
love your latest bag purchases. just goes to show how diverse your taste is. the bags look so light and roomy.
ReplyDeleteHi escape2, thanks for visiting my blog! Yes indeed, the bag is light-weight and roomy...love it! Hahaha! You're spot on. I am the kind of person who wants to try out everything as long as it compliments my body/style...whether it's classic, quirky, rock, vintage etc...anything! :D Thanks again for your compliments!
ReplyDeletei have to be honest, i've been your stalker from purse forum. your reveal is always amazing and out of this world! love love your collection!
ReplyDeletei'm always curious on how you store all of them, the bags, shoes, jewelry and clothes?
Hi Emilie,
ReplyDeleteLOL! Welcome to my blog! I'm so honored that I'm being "stalked"! Hahahahaha! Thanks for your support. Well, I haven't been on purse forum for a long time already....so my last reveal was the things I bought from my Paris trip last June.
Anyway, I have 2 rooms in my home for storage of my bags, shoes, jeweleries and clothes. Bags and shoes are in 1 room, and jeweleries and clothes in another room. I don't have the luxury to have a huge walk-in closet like those who live in the US or Europe or some South East Asian countries because of the limited space here in Hong Kong. That's why I just store my things in 2 separate rooms. :D Welcome again to my blog! Stay tuned for my upcoming Hermes reveal on tPF and here..... :P
Cheers,
Mia
ooh, is the hermes reveal about the special order you placed like months ago? hahaha, see you have a stalker...
ReplyDeletedo you put everything back into boxes? the reason i'm asking is because my mom is also a bit of collector as well (mostly shoes only now) and it drives us CRAZY everytime we try to find something (we because we have the same shoe size yay!). open the box, shuffle through the paper/dust bag, damn wrong one, close it again, and repeat this process 10 times. and yeah we don't have the luxury for a walk in so everything is chucked into wardrobes.
Hi Emilie the stalker, hahahahaha! The special order for my Hermes birkins were placed way back in Sept 2009. So I've waited 14 months for them. :P Last year in Sept 2010, my husband also helped me placed 2 special order birkins which will be ready end of this year. :D
ReplyDeleteWell, for shoes, I don't really keep the boxes as I have a 2 tall racks for shoes and I like to see my shoes out there to quickly pick what shoes I have to wear. I will be so lost if all my shoes are in the boxes! LOL! I only keep shoe boxes for those shoes which are either really really expensive or with a fragile leather (like python or super soft lambskin). Maybe you can "classify" your shoes and put yours and your moms in different areas of the wardrobe?
grrrr... i'm still goin back & forth on sizes... btw, have you tried fitting an ipad in the small? loose fit still slouchy, or fit fit? hope i make sense =)
